About This Place

Located in the charming town of Solomons, Maryland, Boomerangs Original Ribs & Seafood is a welcoming American restaurant that expertly blends the very best of barbecue, seafood, and steakhouse traditions. This local favorite invites diners to savor a richly diverse menu where comforting classics meet bold, inventive flavors—all served in a cozy, no-frills atmosphere that feels just like home.

The moment you step inside, the enticing aroma of smoky ribs and fresh seafood teases your senses and promises a truly satisfying meal. Boomerangs takes pride in its celebrated Cream of Crab Soup, an award-winning specialty that embodies Maryland’s treasured culinary heritage with its creamy texture and delicate crab flavor. Equally irresistible is their Crab Dip, perfectly creamy and abundant in fresh crab meat, making it an ideal starter to share.

But the heart and soul of Boomerangs lie in their barbecue mastery. The Baby Back Ribs and Korean Style Ribs are standout dishes—succulent, tender meats that fall off the bone, glazed with expertly balanced sauces that deliver a harmonious blend of sweet, tangy, and smoky notes. For those who favor variety, the Half Rack & Half Chicken offers an exceptional combination, showcasing perfectly grilled chicken alongside those signature ribs.

If your craving leans towards seafood, the Hand-Dipped Haddock Basket and Fried Shrimp Basket offer a delightfully crisp and flaky experience, served hot and fresh to keep each bite light and satisfying. Complement these with sides like the crispy Brussels Sprouts or comforting Cheese Fries for a full, flavorful meal.

For lighter fare, the Boom Boom Shrimp Salad stands out with its crispy shrimp tossed in a spicy Thai-ginger sauce over fresh, crunchy greens—a vibrant dish that’s both refreshing and bold. Meanwhile, their inventive sandwiches, such as the Chicken Salad Sandwich paired with classic Potato Salad, deliver simple pleasures done exceptionally well.

The beverages at Boomerangs keep things refreshingly straightforward with classic choices like iced tea, sweet tea, and a range of sodas, while their coffee offerings introduce delightful indulgences such as the Boomerangs Irish Coffee or Jamaican Coffee—perfect cozy companions after a savory meal.

Customers frequently remark on the consistently excellent quality and generous portions. Travis Bradford raved about the “best hush puppies ever” and fresh fried haddock that made for an “amazing” meal at an excellent price point, appreciating the homemade touch even in the coleslaw. Regular patron Colby Fletcher lauds their ribs as the best on the eastern seaboard, highlighting the comforting, top-notch nature of every bite. Likewise, visitors appreciate not only the food but the warm hospitality; Christopher Rotondo fondly recalls how the friendly team made their first visit memorable during a coastal road trip.

Though unassuming from the outside, Boomerangs Original Ribs & Seafood is a true hidden gem on Solomons Island Road. It serves mouthwatering, soulful American food that compels repeat visits—whether you’re craving classic barbecue ribs, savory seafood, or hearty comfort dishes. The inviting atmosphere, paired with attentive service and expertly crafted fare, makes it a must-stop for locals and travelers alike seeking an authentic taste of Maryland’s culinary spirit.

Best hush puppies ever? Possibly. I loved the hush puppies and had fried haddock. It was pretty amazing as well. Fresh hot food for a decent price is something that I love to find. Haven't been on the east coast much but they did everything right down to the coleslaw. I would definitely go back. Coleslaw not pictured because I devoured it quickly.

This place has been a staple for me at least. Really good comfort food and by far the best ribs (in my opinion) on the eastern seaboard! Food is top notch every single time, highly recommend coming to this joint whenever you feel like it.

Traveling from Florida to New York on the water. So happy we stopped at Solomans Yachting Center, we Saw Boomerangs and could smell the delicious food from outside. Highly recommend making your way here and making a pit stop to see this nice town. Dana, Shawna, and Drew were so nice and gave such a good choice of food for our first time here. We arrived today for our travels, leaving tomorrow, but now will be coming back in October feeling like family! Thank you again, very nice restaurant Bill! From Christopher / Cooper and Tatou

Boomerangs has the best ribs around town here by far. From the outside street view you may just drive by it and not stop as there's no views like you would get on Solomons Island. Do not be fooled by the looks and do yourself a favor and check it out. This place is small but cranks out great food. I will say the day I visited there was an odd smell that I could not tell what it was but other than that it was fantastic. We had the hush puppies, crab dip & bacon & ranch fries. All came out hot and tasty impressive start. Full racks were ordered and split among those that ordered and robs were fsll off the bone tender, juicy but bit saucy so if you dont like that maybe ask for them dry. The chocolate cake at the end for dad's 84th birthday was also fabulous. Other than that odd smell, which made me skeptical at first, we all were very happy and full when we left.

My new favorite breakfast place in southern Maryland! This spot is a gem!! We had a little wait because we wanted a booth instead of high top table. Our service was great. Our witness was really kind, attentive and helpful. My entire family enjoyed their meals. I tried the carrot cake pancakes, scrambled eggs, home fries and sausage. It was outstanding! My pancakes were perfection. The sausage was the thick real sausage and soooo good!! The home fries were hearty and well seasoned. My eggs, I asked for cheese and they just melted a slice over the top of the eggs. I would have preferred the cheese scrambled within the egg. But overall excellent! One of my daughters got the chocolate chip pancakes and she loved them! Other daughter got chicken and waffles. She said it was really good! Both looked like they were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the cream chip beef over Texas toast. It was just soo good that he ordered seconds!! ( yep two orders ) We all left full and satisfied and agreed that we will be back. The breakfast was so good that I want to check out lunch and dinner soon.

This was our first visit. It was afternoon, so not too busy, and we got a nice table right by the fireplace. We ordered the fried shrimp dinner and a seafood basket. Both were wonderful. You get two sides with dinner, good selection, but there is an up charge for premium sides. We had the chocolate chip bread pudding. Very good and a generous portion that easily serves two. If you haven't been, give them a chance.
